Rock Guitar Lessons – A Proven Way For You To Pursue This Dream

Are you the person who has always wanted to learn rock guitar? Do you love listening to rock music on your I-pod, Walkman, or home surround-sound stereo system wishing that you could play like some of those musicians? 10 to 15 years ago, you were limited in learning how to play the guitar in this style. Now, one of the most popular and successful ways to learn to play is to take rock guitar lessons online.

The period beginning in the late 60’s through the mid 70’s is when several famous rock guitar musicians caused the popularity of the instrument to explode, worldwide. On Internet sites such as you-tube, videos have been legally posted in which you can see the classic playing styles of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page. Unlike the other two, Jimi Hendrix became famous more for being a featured solo artist as opposed to his being a member of a prominent group. In songs such as “Watch Tower” and “Hey, Joe”, Hendrix’s brilliance can be seen through his virtuoso improvisation and dexterity on the guitar.

Eric Clapton became famous first in the mid 60’s group “Cream”. “Sunshine of Your Love” remains one of the most famous opening guitar riffs, played by Clapton, in rock history. I also personally like a song composed by Clapton when he became more of a solo artist in the early 80’s called “She’s Waiting”. In the middle of the song, Clapton improvises with a brilliant and emotional expansion on the opening theme.

Jimmy Page, the British rock guitarist was a member, first of the mid-60’s group called the “Yardbirds”. A few years later, Page along with Robert Plant as lead singer, John Paul Jones on bass guitar, and the late, great John Bonham on drums, formed the quartet known as “Led Zeppelin”. “Stairway to Heaven” is commonly known as the group’s most well-known recording. Many followers of “Zeppelin” believe, however, that the song “Dazed and Confused” was the group’s most brilliant work. With Jones providing a brilliant, repeating bass line on his guitar, Jimmy Page on lead guitar has a stunning solo improvisation in the middle of the song. Jimmy Page also broke new ground by using a bow string, (used for playing the violin, viola, cello, or string bass in an orchestra) to create the most amazing sounds on his lead guitar. If you have heard of this song, but not seen it performed on video; you would owe it to yourself to find it on the Internet just to watch the sheer brilliance of these rock musicians.

I hope in discussing these 3 great musicians, that I have heightened your interest in taking lessons. Interactive, online lessons for rock guitar have been proven to be an advantage; compared to what was available even 10 years ago. Back then, you would have been limited in getting the type of quality instruction allowing you to improve your playing skills on the instrument. Basically, you would have had to personally know an instructor who could teach you all of the technique in this style of playing. Even then, the mentor might not have been capable of clearly communicating his/her instructions in a manner making it easy for you to understand as he/she taught. In addition, a good quality teacher might have only been available in a music studio for several hours per day; and at a time which was really not the best for you.

Good quality online guitar programs would include video as well as audio/text tutorials; giving you a number of ways to learn songs in addition to the technique required allowing you to improve on the instrument. You should be able to download the teaching lessons right to your computer, or have the option of purchasing DVD’s monthly from the site. The ability to learn at your own pace and from the comfort of your home is another major advantage in learning how to play the instrument online.

If you are interested in taking rock guitar lessons, choosing to take online instruction now presents the best choice for you. Do your due diligence by first researching a program that offers exactly what you are seeking. Not all interactive, online programs are equal as far as the opportunities that they are able to offer to you. Some of the best programs however, could have you one day sounding like a Clapton, Hendrix, or Page! More helpful definitions

Seizure- A seizure is an uncontrollable convulsion,  spasm or series of jerking motions in the arms, legs, trunk, or face. In my case, I do recall this ever happening, but I was told this is what took place.

Computed Tomography (CT) scan Computer Tomography Scanning. This type of scan is a safe, noninvasive test that uses an X-ray beam and a computer to make 2-dimensional images of the brain. Similar to an MRI, it views the brain in slices, layer-by-layer, taking a picture of each slice. A dye (contrast agent) may be injected into your bloodstream. A CT scan is especially useful for viewing changes in bony structures.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) A MRI scan is a noninvasive test that uses a magnetic field and radiofrequency waves to give a detailed view of the soft tissues of the brain. It views the brain 3-dimensionally in slices that can be taken from the
side or from the top as a cross-section. A dye (contrast agent) may be injected into your bloodstream. MRI is very useful to evaluate brain lesions and their effects on  surrounding brain.

(website in ebook or handheld)

What I remember the MRI was like I was being placed in a tube for 1 hour. In the  tube, it sounded like a marble was going round and round. To avoid feeling  claustrophobic, I closed my eyes and eventually fell asleep until it was finished (the process lasted around an hour). The CT scan was not as closed, I still closed my eyes during the process.

Craniotomy- To cut open the skull at a particular point, to get to something like a  tumor.

Suboccipital- The lower back portion of the skull.

Craniotomies are named according to the portion of the brain being operated on, and the operation is performed by a neurosurgeon. There are possibly exceptions to this rule, but since I am not a neurosurgeon, I cannot name all the different variations. My personal operation lasted for around 10 hours.

A "suboccipital craniotomy" was performed on me while I was in the hospital. A "craniotomy" is a cut that opens the cranium, or skull. During this procedure, a section of the skull is removed to access the brain. The brain is protected by the skull.

The skull is replaced after this procedure is finished with tiny titanium plates and screws. This surgery normally requires a hospital stay that ranges from a few days to a number of weeks. In my case it was a number of weeks. (See more on a craniotomy at the following web address:

(website in ebook or handheld)

Electrocautery- This does not refer to electrosurgery. The current flows in one direction
instead of alternating (the current alternates in electrosurgery). The current never enters the patient's body, only the heated wire comes in contact with the tissue. This unit is used to control bleeding during surgery.

Endotracheal (tube) - A breathing tube which is designed to establish an airway in seconds, in emergency situations. It is the breathing tube that comes out of patient's nose when they go into surgery.

MRI Atlas of the Human Cerebellum

The MRI Atlas of the Human Cerebellum constitutes the most complete, detailed work on the human cerebellum to date. This definitive work provides images in the three cardinal planes (sagittal, transverse, and coronal) at closely spaced intervals of 2 millimeters. The images are derived from MRI scans of one individual and from postmortem sections of another. It is the only such atlas set within the universally accepted framework of the Talairach stereotaxic system, derived from standard landmarks in the brain. The book includes a new nomenclature system (labeling system) which is easier to use, aids in understanding the organization of the cerebellum, and is consistent with earlier work on the anatomy of the cerebellum in animals and the development of the human cerebellum in infants. Recent studies have shown that the cerebellum is involved in much more than motor coordination alone: also in higher functions including memory, language, emotion, and attention, as well as sensory discrimination. This atlas facilitates this new era of study of the cerebellum, allowing investigators to identify cerebellar structures with precision. Everyone concerned with the anatomy, function, or dysfunction of the cerebellum should have a copy.

Emotion and the Psychodynamics of the Cerebellum

Emotion and the Psychodynamics of the Cerebellum

$43.51

This is a book about cognition, emotion, memory, and learning. Along the way it examines exactly how implicit memory (knowing how) and explicit memory (knowing that) are connected with each other via the cerebellum. Since emotion is also related to memory, and most likely, one of its organising features, many fields of human endeavour have attempted to clarify its fundamental nature, including its relationship to metaphor, problem-solving, learning, and many other variables. This is an attempt to pull together the various strands relating to emotions, so that clinicians and researchers alike can identify precisely, and ultimately agree, upon what emotion is and how it contributes to the other known activities of mind and brain.

Expanding your horizons everyday and participating in actions that make you think on your feet and process information accurately and quickly will make a huge difference as you get older. Sometimes a bit more effort is needed, but by continuing to expand your mental muscles will pay off in a big way towards great learning and memory skills. If you'd like to maintain the health of your brain as you age, then listen to this. Your brain tissue tends to shrink a bit as you get over sixty, with certain areas shrinking more than the rest, such as the frontal lobe which is the part of the brain that takes care of mental processing, and the hippocampus where memories are created. Thinning of the brain in the cortex area, and reductions in white matter are a few of the reasons why brain disorders occur in the elderly. Changes in these areas are what slow the cognitive processing which handle problem solving, decision making and attention. All which tend to wither as you age, if you don't exercise these regions by forming new memories everyday and allowing for a good intake of fresh information. With that said, aging doesn't have to mean a reduction of brain activity. In fact the brain turns stronger and keener if only you continued to use it. For example; if you were an avid reader of books in your youth and you continue to read a lot as you grow older, your reading speed and the quantity of information that you can process as you read will greatly increase as in "practice makes perfect," you are actually getting better as time goes by. Most of our abilities usually improve with the passing of time, including. But remember that other maladies and ailments may lead to any decline in the normal activity in the brain. Besides reading a lot, I always take an HGH supplement every morning. This helps me to keep my mind sharp, and my energy levels high. Simple things, like more schooling, can increase intellectual stimulation of the brain and may even fortify the brain cell networks to help in forestalling mental function harm. Physical action has been known to induce positive effects on the brain and brain functioning. Getting into an exercise regime is the best thing for brain health as oxygen is moving freely through the body and is very helpful to the brains correct functioning. Having an improved self image and believing what you do in life matters and the belief that you contribute to the common good has been known to stall off cognitive decline in older people. So to lessen the effects of the degenerative parts of the brain it would be smart to learn to concentrate and make an honest effort to pay attention. Stay organized and take your time, so that you are able to focus on the jobs that you are undertaking. The all time favorite is repetition. Also, try your best to keep stress levels as low as possible, as tension can cause certain kinds of memory loss. Those senior moments can go completely away if you persist in exercising your brain. Don't forget to get a quality anti aging supplement. I strongly recommend you buy HGH for your anti aging program. This is the most powerful of the anti aging products. It'll keep your body, as well as your mind young. So do whatever it takes to continue your mental agility, and be happy even as you enter your senior years. When you look at the attitudes of elderly people, you see either depressed people, or happy and fulfilled people. Try to be in the second category.

This volume has as its primary aim the examination of issues concerning executive function and frontal lobe development. While many texts have addressed these issues, this is the first to do so within a specifically developmental framework. This area of cognitive function has received increasing attention over the past decade, and it is now established that the frontal lobes, and associated executive functions, are critical for efficient functioning in daily life. It is also clear, and of particular relevance to this text, that these functions develop gradually through childhood, and then deteriorate during old age. These developmental trajectories, and the impact of any interruption to them, are the focus of this volume.

This is the first semi-popular book about the frontal lobes - one of the most important and rapidly evolving topics in contemporary neuroscience and neuropsychology. Through an accessible but rigorous narrative the author shows how the frontal lobes, this most human part of the brain, enable us to engage in complex mental processes, how the frontal lobes control our judgment, and our social and ethical behavior. The book also shows how vulnerable the frontal lobes are to injury and how devastating the effects of frontal-lobe damage often are, leading to chaotic, disorganized, asocial and even criminal behavior. But the book is not just about the frontal lobes. It offers a panorama of state-of-the-art ideas about the brain and cutting-edge research in cognitive neuroscience. These include the dynamic properties of brain function, brain evolution, laterality, sex differences, the neurobiology of foresight, decision making and attention, the neurobiology of creativity and talent, the neurobiology of ethical behavior and empathy, and the neurobiology of asocial and criminal behavior. The book is replete with fascinating clinical stories to illustrate such issues. It is also an intellectual memoir, rich with vignettes, about the author's early training with Luria and later interactions with patients and professionals in Russia, the United States, Australia, and other places.

Bipolar Disorder Symptoms - Ways To Identify This Problem

It is true that even today with communication channels open and increasing daily, very few people are aware of mental health conditions that affect the brain functioning of human beings that appear perfectly normal but are subject to fits of depression and emotional imbalance frequently, or for long periods even. This is termed as bipolar disorder, a brain condition that can adversely affect the daily life of those diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which prevents them from functioning normally as healthy individuals, loss of motor skills, speech problems as well as difficulty in controlling emotions.

If left untreated, patients suffering from bipolar disorder can become extremely moody, experience abnormal highs and lows in happy to sad and manic depressed moods and even contemplate and attempt suicide or substance abuse. Therefore, it is very important to educate people about the mental illness, learn about signs and symptoms to detect it early on and help the affected person consider various modes of treatment to control it and lead a productive life.

Bipolar disorder can affect a person's physical as well as mental health as even routine activities get interrupted; the patient can suffer terrible mood swings that last a few minutes to a full month and affect those around the person too. Thus, the patient can suffer loss of relationships, at academics and professional work and other issues that prevent them leading a full and healthy life.

The full extent of bipolar disorder causing manic depressive spells depends on the kind of illness the person has; but whatever type it is, it should be understood that the condition is serious and can be dangerous for the patient as well as those around him/her, if left untreated with lethal long-term effects.

Typically, a mania is an obsession with something and bipolar disorder patients may exhibit a craze or passion for a certain thing at one time, but since interest on any topic do not last long with them, the condition cannot be labeled a mania; rather it is a brain disorder that is disabling that causes them to go through manic, depressive phases at a cycle process or even both simultaneously.

When manic, the patient will be very happy and when depressive, the mood will be downswing or very low. For persons affected with bipolar disorder, the sense of reality gets affected with thoughts never consistent on one topic, so they can never really rid themselves of all thought as one after the other new thoughts rage through their minds, involuntarily.

These may range from snippets of conversation to movie-phrases and lyrics of song to even hearing their own voice or a repetitive line: this is the only aspect of bipolar disorder that borders on it being a mania of sorts, since patients are incapable of making good judgment – since they are constantly distracted.

Initial clinical testing, counseling, psychotherapy and even psychiatric analysis apart from medication may be necessary to treat bipolar disorder, which though not curable, can be controlled to a large extent through timely diagnosis, treatment and education about the illness, benefiting both patient and their family.

Although some decades have passed, there are still worldwide controversies about a concept of human death on neurological grounds. There are also disagreements on the diagnostic criteria for brain death, whether clinical alone or clinical plus ancillary tests. Moreover, some scholars who were strong defenders of a brain-based standard of death are now favoring a circulatory-respiratory standard. The study of coma is extremely important because lesions of the brain are responsible for quality of life in patients or cause of death. The main goal of Brain Death and Disorders of Consciousness is to provide a suitable scientific platform to discuss all topics related to human death and coma.

Panic Attacks and Assorted Mind Variances: Pieces of a Greater Whole

The human brain is absolutely amazing. And as much as we’ve learned about it, it remains one incredibly mysterious three-pound mass of tissue and fluid. The brain’s functioning has certainly been a puzzle to me over the many years, as it’s facilitated a long bout with panic disorder, as well as dances with other distressing mental, emotional, and physical phenomena. Lately, I’ve become more and more fascinated with how a panic sufferer’s assorted pathological challenges present and interact. Here are just some of my thoughts.

I was nine-years-old when an episode of derealization struck me like a lightening bolt while I was sitting at a kitchen table with my parents and their friends. I panicked and ran from the scene. During that same timeframe it was often written on my report cards that I was seemingly unable to sit still and would occasionally wander around the classroom. As a junior in college intrusive thoughts entered my airspace. I was walking down the sidewalk in downtown East Lansing, MI. and saw a woman coming toward me pushing a stroller. Out of nowhere I wondered what would happen if I punched her baby right in the face. Wow!

Well, let’s take a shot at labeling these events in an effort to gain some insight. The first event was a panic attack, the second involved inattention and hyperactivity, and the third event was an obsession with a yet to be understood bit of compulsive behavior tossed in. And I can tell you, for sure, these three amigos frequently travel together.

Let’s see if we can find some anatomical and physiological common ground here. Research tells us that the generation of panic attacks is based in the amygdala and other components of the limbic system, which are all located deep within the temporal lobes of the brain. The amygdala has been considered a component of the basal ganglia for decades; however, since it’s not involved in movement the association is fading. Finally, the amygdala works closely with the brain’s thalamus and prefrontal cortices in receiving, analyzing, and responding to incoming internal and external stimuli. The neurotransmitters involved in panic are serotonin, norepinephrine, and epinephrine.

ADHD sufferers have been found to have reduced brain mass in areas of the dorsal prefrontal cortex, located within the prefrontal lobe of both brain cortices. Also noted are reductions in size of the anterior temporal areas of both cortices. The anatomy lesson continues, as increases in grey matter volume in areas of the posterior temporal and inferior parietal cortices have also been detected. Finally, areas of the cerebrum’s anterior cingulate cortex and basal ganglia, as well as portions of the cerebellum, have shown variations in size. Neurotransmitters involved with ADHD are thought to be dopamine and norepinephrine.

When it comes to the brain anatomy involved in obsessions and compulsions, the orbital-prefrontal cortex, caudate nucleus (located within the basal ganglia, by the way), and the thalamus are most often mentioned. The neurotransmitters in the obsession/compulsion mix are believed to be serotonin and dopamine.
Well, as it applies to panic, inattention, hyperactivity, obsessions, and compulsions, there appears to be plenty of common ground in terms of brain anatomy and neurotransmitters. Indeed, there are numerous dots that can be connected. Go ahead, go back and take a look at the article and make your own comparisons. I’m thinking you’ll see the similarities. And I believe these similarities account for my constellation of symptoms and disorders over the years, as well as those of one of our clients.

Not long after we began working with Taylor, our focus turned to his self-obsession and inability to quiet his mind. Yes, Taylor’s mind was very much working against him in a very spirited manner. I shared my history of inattention and obsessive/compulsive issues with him, and guess what? Taylor revealed he’d had some major problems with inattention throughout his elementary and secondary education experience. Isn’t it amazing how, with the right cues, seemingly meaningless information to a mind variance sufferer suddenly comes to the fore and becomes a factor in identification and treatment?

Well, to me, our assorted bits of pathology aren’t pieces from different puzzles that happened to have been thrown on the card table. No, they’re pieces from a massive and complicated puzzle that simply take a longer amount of time to piece together. It’s just all the more evidence that mind variances co-occur and interact. And though, in terms of treatment, we traditionally lean toward the myopic, focusing upon the issue that’s causing the most grief in-the-moment; all pieces of the grand puzzle must be considered. Only then can we maximize insight, identity, education, treatment, and hope.

Over the coming days, take the time to ponder your full constellation of symptoms and potential disorders. I’m telling you it’s a worthwhile exercise and your suppositions and conclusions merit discussion with your “help-team.” Again, the nuances of our mind variances, and their interaction, are amazingly fascinating. Well beyond that, understanding the dynamics will lead to extraordinary peace and calm.
